Know your roaming position
Check your plan before you leave. Some include roaming in certain regions; many charge daily fees that add up quickly.
Consider an eSIM
Most recent phones support eSIMs — digital SIM cards you download before or on arrival. Buy a local or regional data plan, install it at home over Wi-Fi, and switch it on when you land. You keep your usual number active for calls and texts if you need them.
Two-factor codes
If you rely on SMS codes to log into your bank or email, make sure your home SIM can still receive them — or switch those accounts to an authenticator app before you travel.

- Keep a photo of your passport stored securely and offline.
